The Bantam Bowl is a Football Alberta sanctioned event held every two years alternating
with the Alberta Summer Games. The concept of the Bantam Bowl is to reward
and showcase the best graduating Grade 9 players in the province in
an all-star format. The best of the best players compete for spots to play on
either the North or South teams over a weekend in April, with the main camp being held
on the May long weekend.
On the May long weekend, the Bantam Bowl generally includes practices Friday, Saturday
and Sunday with the game on Monday. The players are provided with 4 days room & board,
an awards banquet and a game jersey.
The role Football Alberta plays is to run the event in
a manner in which all the coaches have to
do is coach and all the players have to do is play. The result has been an
extremely enjoyable, once in a lifetime memory for player and coach alike.
With the continued development of the Bantam Bowl and the Alberta Summer
Games Tournament in off-setting years, Football Alberta hopes to further increase
the stature of bantam football province-wide.
